LA-SiGMA Undergraduate Student at UNO Wins American Chemical Society Research Poster Award
Congratulations to Edwin Gomez for winning the Undergraduate Research Poster Award in the "Computers and Chemistry" division at the 249th American Chemical Society National Meeting in Denver, Co. Gomez is a LA-SiGMA-funded undergraduate student at the University of New Orleans, who is under the instruction of Dr. Dhruv Chakravorty.
Gomez's research "Conformational sampling of glucose oxidase for bio-fuel cell applications" was touted by the judging committee as a well-defined hypothesis with a clear set of specific aims. His award letter states, "(The committee) found that you had an excellent grasp of the research performed and your conclusions were supported by the data. It is great to see talented students like yourself with enthusiasm for conducting and sharing their undergraduate research."
Gomez also represented UNO at the University of Louisiana System Day at the Louisiana Legislature State Capitol Rotunda on April 15, 2015.
